Utilities & Data Networks
Missouri’s Parkland is served by both national and local utility services that promise to fulfill the capacity needs for your company. The City of Farmington owns and operates the electric, water, and sanitary sewer systems serving all property within the City. The City offers a program to provide reduced cost utility extension and service connections for new industries. In addition, your company may qualify for special utility rates depending on your requirements.
The City of Farmington owns and operates the water sewer, and electric service for all properties within the corporate limits. The City’s waterworks facilities include 13 deep aquifer wells with a production rate of 2.4 million gallons a day, a distribution system and storage facilities. The distribution system includes approximately 62 miles of water main lines ranging in size from 12” to 2” in diameter. Storage facilities include two 1,000,000 gallon ground storage reservoirs and four elevated storage tanks with a combined capacity of 1,900,000 gallons.
The sewerage system includes a collection and distribution system and two treatment plants. One treatment plant was constructed in 1974 with major renovations in 1989, 1991 and 2010, and one of which was constructed in 1952 with major renovations in 1989 and 2002.Collectively the two treatment plants have a design capacity to treat an average of 5.6 million gallons of wastewater per day and a maximum capacity of 10.1 million gallons of wastewater per day. The current average daily flow is 4.0 million gallons with a peak flow of 9.4 million gallons.
The electric system is also owned and operated by the City. The City is a member of the Missouri Public Energy Pool (MOPEP) and purchases its wholesale energy through
cooperative power purchasing arrangements with over thirty other municipal utilities in the State of Missouri. MOPEP acquires energy resources through both long and short-term energy contracts and by maintaining equity positions in some generation facilities. The diversified energy portfolio is derived from coal, natural gas, hydroelectric, land-fill methane gas generation, solar and wind turbine. All electric transmission from the Midwest Independent System Operators network is through the AmerenUE distribution system. All electric transmission facilities serving the City are owned by Ameren Missouri (formerly Ameren UE). The City distribution system includes both above and below ground power lines and 7 substations. The City’s distribution capacity is 89 megawatts. Peak energy load in 2015 was 49 megawatts. The electric system can provide either single or three phase service to meet your industrial load. The City also owns and operates eight 2.2MW diesel generation units for emergency electric service.
Natural Gas services for the City are provided by Laclede Gas Company and is available at all locations within the Industrial Park. Laclede Gas Company is the largest natural gas distribution utility in Missouri, serving approximately 625,000 residential and industrial customers. The company also operates an underground natural gas storage field, a propane storage cavern and propane vaporization facilities.
Telecommunication networks serving the City include ATT, Charter Communications, Big River Telephone and Broadband, Show-Me Technologies and private fiber networks. The telecommunications and data networks available in the industrial park can provide web-based or dedicated fiber tunnels to your other facilities.
